SOPHIE GREY. is taking on the world one song at a time armed with her keytar synth-ax and a propensity for writing, arranging, performing and producing her own modern electro, new wave-inspired music. This summer, she’ll be taking her “Retro Electro” sound to the Isle of Wight Festival as well as opening for music icon Sting across arenas in Europe followed by an August run opening for platinum star and Voice mentor Rea Garvey in Germany.
SOPHIE GREY. is a classically-trained pianist and keyboardist who studied piano performance at Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California where she was mentored by songwriter and GRAMMY-award-nominated Dr. Patrice Rushen (“Forget Me Nots”). SOPHIE also honed her engineering and production skills growing up between Kansas City and Los Angeles where she worked at the renowned Village Recorder Studios.
SOPHIE’s original productions - which blend live instrumentation and sparkling electronic sounds - are informed by a deep-rooted love for soulful pop music, hip hop and 80’s-flavored beats. SOPHIE describes her sound as “Retro Electro,” also the name of her most recent album. Her previous single “Dark Lights” featuring Rolling Loud performer/rapper Robb Bank$ has already garnered over half a million streams.
When not writing and recording her own songs, SOPHIE is a sought-after live and session musician. Most recently, she has been touring with America’s Got Talent’s Lily Meola playing piano, keyboards and singing backing vocals. SOPHIE has also recently appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America accompanying GRAMMY-award, multi-platinum artist Shaggy on the keyboards. She’ll be performing at SxSW London this coming June and touring across the UK and Continental Europe this summer.
